Andrew Fox-Smith – Chief Executive Officer
Andrew Fox-Smith was appointed Chief Executive Officer on 20th June 2014 following the acquisition of Global Orthopaedic Technology by The Riverside Company – a leading mid cap private equity company.
As CEO Mr Fox-Smith is responsible for the company’s overall management and global strategy. He has advised Riverside on a number of deals over the last 2 years and has over 20 years experience in the medical technology industry – including 18 years at Stryker Corporation where his most recent position was as Group President, International.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Business from Charles Sturt University and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is also Chairman of Optimized Ortho Pty Ltd – an innovative Australian based medical technology company specialising in dynamic, functional and patient specific simulations.
Duncan Lilley – Chief Operating Officer
Duncan Lilley is the Chief Operating Officer at Global Orthopaedic Technology and has over 20 years of hands-on operating experience, predominantly in senior management roles. He has a strong focus on outcomes, delivering value through a structured and pragmatic approach to strategically grow businesses within challenging and changing marketplaces.
Duncan has a broad base of experience gained from leadership roles within the Construction, Energy, Technology, Business Services and Medical Devices industries, gaining broad international exposure through roles based in South Africa, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Hong Kong and Australia; recording a strong track record of success.
He has served as COO/ CFO for Optimized Ortho, Global Head of Assurance Services for SAI Global, Managing Director of Asia-Pacific for BSI, Finance Director of Network Enable for UNISYS Europe and Commercial Manager of Transportation for KBR EMEA. Earlier career experience included various commercial roles in the construction and engineering space.
Duncan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and is a qualified accountant (ACMA, CPA), possessing the financial expertise, process orientation and hands-on approach to effectively manage risk and deliver value.
DAN BARKER – Chief technology Officer
Dan is responsible for leading the Medical Technology and Evidence (MTE) division of Global Orthopaedic Technology. The MTE division is responsible for Production, Research and Development (R&D), and Clinical Research, and is tasked with ensuring that Global products are safe, effective, and supported by robust clinical evidence.
Dan completed a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours and a Master of Engineering Science at Adelaide University, followed by a Doctorate of Philosophy degree (in orthopaedic biomechanics) at Flinders University. Dan then completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Lund, Sweden before embarking on a career in industry, where Dan has 12 years of experience in a variety of R&D, sales management, marketing, and business development roles at Portland Orthopaedics, Johnson and Johnson Medical and Zimmer. Dan’s most recent role before joining Global was Asia Pacific Director of Research and Development for Zimmer.
ANGUS DIXON – DIRECTOR, MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Angus has worked in Orthopaedics for over 17 years. He started his Orthopaedic career at Howmedica in Sales & Sales Management in both Australia and Asia.
Angus was with Stryker for over 11 years, where he held various roles of increasing responsibility. These positions included Regional Marketing Director for Asia, Australia and New Zealand for Recon, NSW Sales Manager Recon and Australia New Zealand Spine Sales Manager.
For the last 18 months Angus has been Regional Manager in Arthroplasty with Surgical Specialties, based in Sydney.
